The idea of entering a contest is a little intimidating, but it’s an exciting challenge! I did some research and found several photography contests on Viewbug, a fantastic community of photographers with all levels of experience. I was inspired by the wide variety of artistic photography on their site, and the huge number of contests they have running at any given time.
I chose two photos to enter into two separate contests, since each contest is limited to a single entry. The first contest was for autumn themed photography, so I chose this photo of a dock scattered with changing leaves, with sneakers in the foreground. It’s a subtle but accurate reflection of the autumn adventures I’ve had here in Idaho. I enhanced the autumn colors and adjusted the hue to capture the autumn tone I was aiming for.
The second photo contest was for cover photos – which can function as social media covers, or anything other interesting backdrop to a collection of interesting content. I chose to use this photo of the waterfront in downtown Olympia. It has some gorgeous lighting and great composition, and it can be used in a huge variety of applications.
I submitted both entries on November 10th, and both contests end by the end of November. I’m excited to continue taking good photos and finding opportunities to put them out there in the world!
