sketching
A large part of my efforts for the past several weeks has been developing the visual concept for the event. I created a variety of sketches for the event poster, all leaning into the idea that we developed as a team of “Snapshot of Christmas” and using Polaroid cameras as the visual motif.
designing
I took a sketch and started executing a design based on it. It needs a lot of refinement and needs feedback from both the event team and the faculty, but it’s a good start as we attempt to define a style for the event promotional materials. The final poster design is what we’ll use as a visual motif for the rest of the event materials.
interviewing
As the “figurehead” for the event, this week I was interviewed by two separate student writers from different groups about the event. I prepared some materials, sat down to talk with each of them, and responded to follow-up emails with additional questions. I’m waiting on the event managers to finish coordinating additional interviews for publicizing the event over campus.
coordinating with faculty
I’ve spoken with all the faculty who teach the classes which will be represented at the event. I clarified what was expected of the students and spelled out everything the event team and volunteers can do to make the experience as easy on the teachers and the students as possible.
publicizing to society members
I announced the event at the Visual Society meeting to about 20 students, and to several classes. I answered questions students had, and directed them to the website with the latest information on the event competitions and the event itself.
collaborating with event planners
I’ve scheduled a meeting with the event manager for next week where we’ll review the content calendar in detail and begin designing and scheduling all the content for publicizing the event.
