12 Days of Christmas Stickers

How do you get in the Christmas spirit? In my family, it’s by finding creative ways to observe the whole season, starting with the twelve days of Christmas. One tool that can add to the fun of the celebration is by using these stickers. My goal with each sticker was to visualize the word play from each day in the song, in a playful, clean style.
I had a lot of concepts in my head, so my main purpose in sketching was to get these different ideas out, and from there I began to play around with how to communicate the concepts of each sticker in a new way, while still being distinguishable.
I started out my vector illustrations using my sketches as the basis, following a looser style before settling into a style with cleaner lines and edges, and some clear symmetry. I developed a pretty clear concept for the partridge in a pear tree, and knew where I was headed with three french hens, but I was stuck on how to make two turtle doves in a similar style.
I reached a point where I had a mostly-refined first sticker, a solid concept for the second and third. I got some helpful feedback about choosing colors that will add the right amount of contrast, and make the design cohesive. I went through several other drafts until I reached a final design I was super happy with.
These stickers can be used in so many creative ways to add the holiday spirit to somebody’s celebration, which is the ultimate goal of the design. They each clearly illustrate three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree in a new and fresh way that people will be able to connect with, and hopefully have a good laugh over.
